This anthology starts at a solemn note, with the editor explaining how the online magazine it sprouted from lived and died in relative anonymity. If the quality of the stories included in this anthology is indicative of the overall quality of the magazine, the loss of Acidic Fiction is a shame indeed. I'm yet to read an anthology similar to Toxic Tales vol.2. The stories selected are horror beyond a doubt, but they take strange, melancholy approaches that often manage to be terrifying, sad, and thoughtful at the same time. I have especially enjoyed Faceless, Golden Arms, Coin-Op Carter, and I Dated Mother Nature, and will likely be buying the first anthology as well.Product details

Alas! This anthology marks the demise of a truly unique repository for tales of the surreal, fantastical, and macabre. The online magazine, Acidic Fiction, was a treasure trove of magical realism some of which has, thankfully, been preserved in two anthologies Corrosive Chronicles (Volume 1) and Toxic Tales (Volume 2). The second volume and swan song of the magazine contains exquisite tales befitting a final performance. Of particular note are Crescent Cross, Fostering, and Coin-Op Carter. I'll definitely be adding the first volume to my collection.
